Possible coronavirus pipe contamination

Alterations to bathroom pipes in an apartment block in Hong Kong have been cited as a possible factor in the spread of coronavirus in the area.

Thirty households in Hong Mei House in Tsing Yi were evacuated in February following confirmation that two residents in their block, which shares the same piping system, had been diagnosed with the virus. Investigators found that, in one of the units, the vent pipe had been altered and disconnected from the main waste pipe, potentially allowing contaminated air into the flat.
